It is hoped that a large area in the middle of Camborne, Pool and Redruth will be turned into a park by November. ‘Heartlands’ is a park built around Robinson’s Shaft to make a centre for the World Heritage Site. There will be a hall for displays, a market, a playing place, and offices for social enterprises. Around the shaft will be gardens, lakes and places for children to play.
However, it is of much importance that the engine house itself is being renovated with the pumping engine in motion. Midas Construction are also working on the head-frame to make it safe and kept like a memorial to the work put in by thousands of miners across the centuries.
Now, the ‘Heartlands’ team are looking forward to receiving help from local people in order that the project can become the centre of the community.

This article uses three tenses of the verb ‘to be’ in Cornish. ‘Yw’ is the word for ‘is’ when we are talking about the state of someone or something (ie: he is happy / the weather is hot). If you want to use the word ‘is’ in the context of something happening or talking about a location, then you must use the word ‘yma’ (ie: he is watching TV / there is the pub). I have also used the future form of ‘yma’ – which is ‘y fydh’. This word can be use for all occasions where you may have used ‘yw’ and ‘yma’ in the present.

Y fydh Peder ow mos tre = Peter will be going home.
