Here are three thigs you can do to sound better giving a presentation. You can learn more skills like this with voice coaching for business:
1. If you are speaking to a medium to large-sized audience, never trust the PA. Always be prepared for it not working, or breaking down. Thus, it is good to get into the habit of projecting your voice. Learn to breathe from the diaphragm to power the voice through your vocal chords without straining them. Much of the trick in projection is in the mind. Even if you are not in a large auditorium, imagine the person who is going to back your business based on your talk is up in the gods – make sure s/he hears the message. To do this, lift your posture and elevate your head.
2. It isn’t magic by any means. If you do not open that hole in the front of your face very wide, then there won’t be much of a gap for your voice to emerge through. Make sure you speak by opening your mouth wide and forming every consonant and vowel fully. This will also help you slow down your presentatio and mean that you are less likely to trip over your words.
3. Take care of your voice – it is an instrument and a key tool in your business marketing tool-set. Drink plenty of water through the day and particularly before a presentation. Warm your voice up with a series of exercises – professional singers do it and so should you. There are plenty of videos on Youtube showing some of these exercises. Many will incorporate breathing techniques too, which will also relax you.
