Living Cornwall Podcast 22

Sharp’s Brewery has been bought by international drinks group, Molson Coors, for £20 million. The buyers have said that they want to keep the brewery at Rock. It produces 75 thousand barrels a year. There are eighty people working at the brewery, which makes the famous beer – ‘Doom Bar’.

It was terrible news seeing towns and villages in East Cornwall washed out with flooded waters – bringing back memories of the Boscastle flood. Cornwall has always been exposed to the elements, which while they have caused destruction at times, have also offered opportunities. The seas have provided fish while the winds now generate electricity.

There is no doubt now helicopter Scilly to be moved out of West Cornwall after a plan putting the helicopter base to Land’s End. It is necessary to the helicopter moving from Penzance because owner British International to sell the land to a supermarket.
