Saturday 12th February 2011 saw business and cultural organisations come together at Lys Kernow in Truro for the first Bewnans Kernow conference. The event looked at how Cornwall can make the most of its strong identity for the benefit of trade and tourism.

Cornwall Council’s chief executive officer, Kevin Lavery, spoke about how the challenge is to turn the tough financial situation of the modern era into advantage. VisitCornwall’s Malcolm Bell spoke about how Cornwall is viewed by visitors and potential visitors, as well as the new marketing strategy that is being rolled out. Mr Bell said that social media played an increasingly important role.
